I'm starting a new feature on the Beauxoxo Blog today called 'Monday Muse' where I post about things that inspire my mind as a designer but also as a person. Today, I want to highlight the incredibly beautiful designs from a brand called Sretsis, one of my true favourites for a very long time now.Sretsis, which means sister spelt backwards, was founded in 2002 by sisters: Pim, Kly and Martina. Whilst still a junior at the prestigious Parsons School, Pim Sukhahuta's career started before she knew it with the opening of her first boutique alongside an internship for Marc Jacobs. Pim soon became recognised for her girlish yet quirky designs using beautiful, whimsical prints on delicate fabrics like silk chiffon and charmeuse.
Altogether, the sisters combine Pim who is the head designer, Kly, a magazine star turned fashion marketer, and then Matina who collaborates her jewellery line for each collection.
Describing the style of Sretsis Pim’s has said that it as being "all about whimsical prints, nostalgic details with a modern-day attitude. We don’t believe in locking up clothes only for special occasions. We want girls to experience the regular joy of dressing up.” Pim likes to work with silk, chiffons and silk satins in her designs while mixing them with various textures and credits growing up in various places as her inspiration for her eclectic designs.
Sretsis have been loved and recognised globally, with mentions in Vogue, Elle, Instyle and the New York Post. Their incredible garments have also gained the attention of a host of celebrities such as Paris and Nicky Hilton, Beyonce, Zooey Deschanel and Katy Perry.
Just how stunning is their SS18 collection? It truly is the collection of my dreams. From the delicate chiffons with pretty floral prints, to the trench coat made super girly with embroidery detail, to cherry prints for a fun retro twist, this is truly one of the most magical collections I have ever seen and I am so incredibly in love with every single piece. And the storytelling of Sretsis makes their pieces even more desirable as seen in the breathtaking video above. Their art of storytelling is captivating and really makes their designs come alive.
